Working with Active Directory with RDS for SQL Server

You can join an RDS for SQL Server DB instance to a Microsoft Active Directory (AD) domain. Your AD domain can be hosted on Amazon Managed AD within Amazon, or on a Self Managed AD in a location of your choice, including your corporate data centers, on Amazon EC2, or with other cloud providers.

You can authenticate domain users using NTLM authentication with Self Managed Active Directory. You can use Kerberos and NTLM authentication with Amazon Managed Active Directory.

In the following sections, you can find information about working with Self Managed Active Directory and Amazon Managed Active Directory for Microsoft SQL Server on Amazon RDS.
