UpdateRoleAlias

Updates a role alias.

Requires permission to access the UpdateRoleAlias action.

Important

The value of credentialDurationSeconds must be less than or equal to the maximum session duration of the IAM role that the role alias references. For more information, see Modifying a role maximum session duration (AWS API) from the AWS Identity and Access Management User Guide.

Request Syntax

URI Request Parameters

The request uses the following URI parameters.

roleAlias

The role alias to update.

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.

Pattern: [\w=,@-]+

Required: Yes

Request Body

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

credentialDurationSeconds

The number of seconds the credential will be valid.

This value must be less than or equal to the maximum session duration of the IAM role that the role alias references.

Type: Integer

Valid Range: Minimum value of 900. Maximum value of 43200.

Required: No

roleArn

The role ARN.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 20. Maximum length of 2048.

Required: No

Response Elements

If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 200 response.

The following data is returned in JSON format by the service.

roleAlias

The role alias.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.

roleAliasArn

The role alias ARN.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 2048.

InternalFailureException

An unexpected error has occurred.

InvalidRequestException

The request is not valid.

ResourceNotFoundException

The specified resource does not exist.

HTTP Status Code: 404

ServiceUnavailableException

The service is temporarily unavailable.

HTTP Status Code: 503

ThrottlingException

The rate exceeds the limit.

UnauthorizedException

You are not authorized to perform this operation.
