# AWS::DataSync::Task FilterRule

Specifies which files, folders, and objects to include or exclude when transferring files from source to destination.

The type of filter rule to apply. Amazon DataSync only supports the SIMPLE\$1PATTERN rule type.

*Allowed values*: `SIMPLE_PATTERN`  
*Pattern*: `^[A-Z0-9_]+$`  
*Maximum*: `128`

`Value`  <a name="cfn-datasync-task-filterrule-value"></a>
A single filter string that consists of the patterns to include or exclude. The patterns are delimited by "\$1" (that is, a pipe), for example: `/folder1|/folder2`

*Type*: String  
*Pattern*: `^[^\x00]+$`  
*Maximum*: `409600`
