Using the Amazon Command Line Interface - Amazon CloudFormation
Services or capabilities described in Amazon Web Services documentation might vary by Region. To see the differences applicable to the China Regions, see Getting Started with Amazon Web Services in China (PDF).

Using the Amazon Command Line Interface

With the Amazon Command Line Interface (Amazon CLI), you can create, monitor, update, and delete stacks from your system's terminal. You can also use the Amazon CLI to automate actions through scripts. For more information about the Amazon CLI, see the Amazon Command Line Interface User Guide.

If you use Windows PowerShell, Amazon also offers the Amazon Tools for Windows PowerShell.

Note

The prior Amazon CLI tools are still available, but not recommended. If you need information about the prior Amazon CloudFormation CLI tools, see the Amazon CloudFormation CLI Reference in the documentation archive.
