Cross-Region automated backups - Amazon Relational Database Service
Services or capabilities described in Amazon Web Services documentation might vary by Region. To see the differences applicable to the China Regions, see Getting Started with Amazon Web Services in China (PDF).

Cross-Region automated backups

By using backup replication in Amazon RDS, you can configure your RDS DB instance to replicate snapshots and transaction logs to a destination Region. When backup replication is configured for a DB instance, RDS starts a cross-Region copy of all snapshots and transaction logs when they're ready. For more information, see Replicating automated backups to another Amazon Web Services Region.

Backup replication is available in all Amazon Web Services Regions except the following:

  • Africa (Cape Town)

  • Asia Pacific (Hong Kong)

  • Asia Pacific (Hyderabad)

  • Asia Pacific (Jakarta)

  • Europe (Milan)

  • Europe (Spain)

  • Middle East (Bahrain)
