| Amazon Backup updates Amazon RDS PITR workflow | Amazon Backup uses snapshot-based backups for Amazon RDS instances, when PITR is enabled for the first time, until the next maintenance window to avoid an immediate instance restart. PITR is automatically enabled after maintenance completes. When PITR is disabled, the change is scheduled for your maintenance window. You may continue to incur backup storage costs until the maintenance window applies the change.
