Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR) in Amazon Web Services China
Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR) is a managed Amazon Docker registry service that is secure, scalable, and reliable. Amazon ECR supports private Docker repositories with resource-based permissions using Amazon Identity and Access Management (IAM) so that specific users or Amazon EC2 instances can access repositories and images. Developers can use the Docker CLI to push, pull, and manage images.

How Amazon ECR differs
The following differences apply to Amazon Elastic Container Registry:

As of October 1, 2025, Repository creation templates are supported in all China regions.

Cross-region and cross-account replication is now supported between the China Regions. However, cross-Region and cross-account replication is not available between China Regions and Amazon Web Services Regions outside of China.

The Amazon ECR VPC endpoints are
cn.com.amazonaws.cn-northwest-1.ecr.dkrandcn.com.amazonaws.cn-northwest-1.ecr.api. For more information, see Amazon ECR interface VPC endpoint (Amazon PrivateLink). -
Amazon ECR to Amazon ECR pull through cache rules are only available in the same partition.

Pull through cache rules for all non-Amazon ECR upstream registries are not available.

ECR managed signing is not available.
