# Amazon EMR
<a name="emr"></a>

Amazon EMR helps you analyze and process vast amounts of data by distributing the computational work across a cluster of virtual servers running in the Amazon Cloud. The cluster is managed using an open-source framework called Hadoop. Amazon EMR lets you focus on crunching or analyzing your data without having to worry about time-consuming setup, management, and tuning of Hadoop clusters or the compute capacity they rely on.

## Region Availability
<a name="feature-regions"></a>

Amazon EMR is available in the following regions in China:
+ Beijing Region

## Feature Availability and Implementation Differences
<a name="feature-diff"></a>

+ YARN **Application history** is not available on the cluster details page.
+ The old Amazon EMR management console is the default console for the Beijing and Ningxia Regions.
+ The following table indicates which instance are available to be used with Amazon EMR in the Beijing and Ningxia regions. **Yes** appears for regions where the instance type is available.
