Amazon IoT Greengrass Version 1 - Getting Started with Amazon Web Services in China
Services or capabilities described in Amazon Web Services documentation might vary by Region. To see the differences applicable to the China Regions, see Getting Started with Amazon Web Services in China (PDF).

Amazon IoT Greengrass Version 1

Amazon IoT Greengrass seamlessly extends Amazon onto physical devices so they can act locally on the data they generate, while still using the cloud for management, analytics, and durable storage. Amazon IoT Greengrass ensures your devices can respond quickly to local events and operate with intermittent connectivity. Amazon IoT Greengrass minimizes the cost of transmitting data to the cloud by enabling you to author custom software and Amazon Lambda functions that run on local devices.

Region Availability

Amazon IoT Greengrass V1 is available in the following regions in China:

  • Beijing Region

Feature Availability and Implementation Differences

The Amazon Web Services in China implementation of Amazon IoT Greengrass is unique in the following ways:

  • Currently, Amazon IoT Greengrass V1 is available in the Beijing Region only.

  • Amazon IoT Greengrass Core software v1.9.2 is the minimum supported version in the Beijing Region.

  • The following minimum versions of the Amazon IoT Greengrass Core SDK are supported:

  • The Beijing Region only supports Amazon Trust Services (ATS) server authentication, so you must use ATS-signed root CA certificates and ATS endpoints. For more information, see Server Authentication in the Amazon IoT guide.

    • Amazon Trust Services (ATS) endpoints in the China region are different from other global endpoints. For example, the Amazon IoT Greengrass V1 ATS endpoint in the Beijing Region is greengrass.ats.iot.cn-north-1.amazonaws.com.cn. For more information, see China (Beijing) Region Endpoints in the Amazon Web Services General Reference.

  • The default maximum number of transactions per second (TPS) on the Amazon IoT Greengrass V1 API is 10. For more information, see Amazon IoT Greengrass Limits in the Amazon Web Services General Reference.

  • Currently, only the following connectors are supported in the Beijing Region:

    • Modbus-RTU Protocol Adapter connector, v2

    • Raspberry Pi GPIO connector, v2
