Amazon Redshift in Amazon Web Services China

Amazon Redshift is an enterprise-level, petabyte-scale, fully managed, data warehousing service.

Region availability

Amazon Redshift and Amazon Redshift Spectrum are available in the following regions in China:

  • China (Beijing) Region

  • China (Ningxia) Region

How Amazon Redshift differs

The following differences apply to Amazon Redshift:

  • Database encryption is supported only when using a default encryption key assigned by Amazon Redshift or when using Amazon Key Management Service (Amazon KMS). Amazon CloudHSM is not available.

  • Cross-region features, such as snapshot copying across regions and COPY from another region, are currently supported only between the China (Beijing) and China (Ningxia) Regions.

  • The Amazon Redshift Getting Started Guide guide and some tutorials in the Amazon Redshift Database Developer Guide use sample data hosted on Amazon S3 buckets that are not accessible in the China (Beijing) and China (Ningxia) Regions.

  • The following features are not available:

    • Amazon Q generative SQL
