# Managing your Amazon payments

To open an Amazon Web Services account, you must have a valid payment method on file. Use the procedures in this chapter to add, update, or remove payment methods and to make payments.

You can use the [Payment preferences](https://console.amazonaws.cn/billing/home#/paymentpreferences) page of the Amazon Billing and Cost Management console to manage your Amazon payment methods.
