# Understanding widget types

Dashboards help you monitor and analyze your Amazon costs, usage, and resource commitments. Two types of widgets are available: custom widgets that you configure from scratch to track costs, usage, and commitment metrics, and predefined widgets that come with preset cost breakdowns over time.



- **Custom**
  - **Widget name:** Cost / **Widget description:** Visualizes your aggregate costs across all Amazon services, including breakdown by service, Region, or custom tags.
  - **Widget name:** Usage / **Widget description:** Visualizes your aggregate usage across all Amazon services, helping you track resource consumption patterns.
  - **Widget name:** Budget / **Widget description:** Displays your Amazon Budgets in a table format. You can filter budgets by name, threshold, and type to monitor budget performance directly within your dashboard.
  - **Widget name:** Savings Plans utilization / **Widget description:** Shows how well you're using your Savings Plans commitments, including unused and partially used commitments.
  - **Widget name:** Savings Plans coverage / **Widget description:** Shows what percentage of your usage is covered by Savings Plans.
  - **Widget name:** Reservation utilization / **Widget description:** Shows how well you're using your Reserved Instances.

- **Reservation coverage**
  - **Widget name:** Shows what percentage of your usage is covered by Reserved Instances.

- **Predefined**
  - **Widget name:** Monthly costs by service / **Widget description:** Visualizes your aggregate monthly costs across all Amazon services for the last six months.
  - **Widget name:** Monthly costs by linked account / **Widget description:** Visualizes your aggregate monthly costs across all Amazon linked accounts for the last six months.
  - **Widget name:** Monthly EC2 running hour costs / **Widget description:** Visualizes your monthly EC2 running hour costs for the last six months.
  - **Widget name:** Daily costs / **Widget description:** Visualizes your daily Amazon costs for the last six months.
  - **Widget name:** Amazon Marketplace costs / **Widget description:** Visualizes your Amazon Marketplace costs for the last six months.



Each of these widgets can be customized to show the data most relevant to your needs, allowing you to create comprehensive and insightful dashboards.
