# StartDataMigration


Starts the specified data migration.

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

The identifier (name or ARN) of the data migration to start.  
Type: String  
Required: Yes

 ** [StartType](#API_StartDataMigration_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="DMS-StartDataMigration-request-StartType"></a>
Specifies the start type for the data migration. Valid values include `start-replication`, `reload-target`, and `resume-processing`.  
Type: String  
Valid Values: `reload-target | resume-processing | start-replication`   
Required: Yes
