# Installing applications with earlier AMI versions of Amazon EMR

When using an AMI version, applications are installed in any number of ways, including using the `NewSupportedProducts` parameter for the [RunJobFlow](https://docs.amazonaws.cn/ElasticMapReduce/latest/API/API_RunJobFlow.html) action, using bootstrap actions, and using the [Step](https://docs.amazonaws.cn/ElasticMapReduce/latest/API/API_Step.html) action.
