Create a gateway for Siemens Industrial Edge

After you have the proper Siemens accounts and IEM instances, you can create a SiteWise Edge gateway of deployment type Siemens Industrial Edge device.

Note

Ensure that you meet all requirements for running a device on Siemens Industrial Edge Management. For more information, see Requirements for the Amazon IoT SiteWise Edge application.

To create the configuration file

  1. Navigate to the Amazon IoT SiteWise console.

  2. In the navigation pane, choose Edge gateways.

  3. Choose Create gateway.

  4. For Deployment type, choose Siemens Industrial Edge device.

  5. Enter a name for your SiteWise Edge gateway or use the name generated by Amazon IoT SiteWise.

  6. (Optional) Under advanced configuration, do the following:

    1. Enter a name for your Amazon IoT Core Thing or use the name generated by Amazon IoT SiteWise.

  7. Choose Create gateway.

  8. In the Generate SiteWise Edge gateway configuration file dialog box, choose Generate and download. Amazon IoT SiteWise automatically generates a configuration file that you will use to configure the Amazon IoT SiteWise Edge application.

    Important

    Keep your gateway configuration file as a backup in the event that you need to restore your Amazon IoT SiteWise Edge application instance. You can securely save your SiteWise Edge gateway configuration file in Amazon Secrets Manager for this purpose. Secrets Manager securely stores, manages, and retrieves sensitive information. If you misplace or delete this configuration file, you won't be able to reconnect your Amazon IoT SiteWise Edge application instance to its original gateway if you need to recover it. You'll need to create both a new gateway and a new configuration file.
