Amazon IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk

Amazon IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk provides the cloud services that you can use to connect your Sidewalk end devices to the Amazon Web Services Cloud and use other Amazon Web Services.

Amazon Sidewalk is a secure, shared network that enables devices in your community to get connected and stay connected. Amazon Sidewalk transfers data between Sidewalk end devices and Sidewalk gateways, and between Sidewalk gateways and the Sidewalk cloud.

How to use Amazon IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk?

You can onboard your Sidewalk end devices to Amazon IoT by using the console or the Amazon IoT Wireless API operations. After your devices are onboarded, their messages are sent to Amazon IoT Core. You can then start developing your business applications on the Amazon Cloud, which uses the data from your Amazon Sidewalk end devices.

Using the console

To onboard your Sidewalk end devices, sign in to the Amazon Web Services Management Console and navigate to the Devices page on the Amazon IoT console. After your devices are onboarded, you can view and manage them on this page of the IoT console.

Using the API or CLI

You can onboard both Sidewalk and LoRaWAN devices by using the Amazon IoT Wireless API operations. The Amazon IoT Wireless API that Amazon IoT Core is built on is supported by the Amazon SDK. For more information, see Amazon SDKs and Toolkits.

You can use the Amazon CLI to run commands for onboarding and managing your Sidewalk end devices. For more information, see Amazon IoT Wireless CLI reference.

Amazon IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk Regions and endpoints

Amazon Sidewalk is only available in the us-east-1 Amazon Web Services Region. Amazon IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk provides support for control plane and data plane API endpoints in this Region. The data plane API endpoints are specific to your Amazon Web Services account. For more information, see see Amazon IoT Wireless Service endpoints in the Amazon General Reference.

Amazon IoT Core for Amazon Sidewalk has quotas that apply to device data that is transmitted between the device and the Amazon Web Services Cloud, and the maximum TPS for the Amazon IoT Wireless API operations. For more information, see Amazon IoT Wireless quotas in the Amazon General Reference.
