Describes the current namespace.

Request Syntax

GET /accounts/AwsAccountId/namespaces/Namespace HTTP/1.1

URI Request Parameters

The request uses the following URI parameters.


The ID for the Amazon account that contains the Amazon QuickSight namespace that you want to describe.

Length Constraints: Fixed length of 12.

Pattern: ^[0-9]{12}$

Required: Yes


The namespace that you want to describe.

Length Constraints: Maximum length of 64.

Pattern: ^[a-zA-Z0-9._-]*$

Required: Yes

The request does not have a request body.

If the action is successful, the service sends back the following HTTP response.


The HTTP status of the request.

The following data is returned in JSON format by the service.


The information about the namespace that you're describing. The response includes the namespace ARN, name, Amazon Web Services Region, creation status, and identity store. DescribeNamespace also works for namespaces that are in the process of being created. For incomplete namespaces, this API operation lists the namespace error types and messages associated with the creation process.
