Creating a Snapshot of an Amazon RDS Instance - Amazon SDK for Ruby
Services or capabilities described in Amazon Web Services documentation might vary by Region. To see the differences applicable to the China Regions, see Getting Started with Amazon Web Services in China (PDF).

Creating a Snapshot of an Amazon RDS Instance

The following example creates a snapshot for the Amazon RDS instance represented by instance_name in the us-west-2 region.

Note

If your instance is a member of a cluster, you can’t create a snapshot of the instance. Instead, you must create a snapshot of the cluster (see Creating a Snapshot of an Amazon RDS Cluster).
