Shipping considerations for Snow Family devices

When you create a job to order a Snow Family device, you provide a shipping address and choose shipping speed. Note that the shipping speed doesn’t indicate how soon you can expect to receive the device from the day you created the job. Rather, it indicates the time that the device is in transit between Amazon and your shipping address. Before the device ships, Amazon processes the device for the job. The amount of time that's required to process your job depends on factors like job type and size. Also, shipping carriers generally only pick up outgoing Snow Family devices once a day and carriers don't pick up outgoing devices on weekends. Thus, processing before shipping can take a day or more. While Amazon is preparing your device to ship and after it receives the device after you return it, you can monitor the status of your job through the Amazon Snow Family Management Console. Note

The shipping speed that you choose applies when Amazon sends the device to you and when you return the device to Amazon.

Snowball Edge devices can only be used to import or export data within the Amazon Region where the devices are ordered.

Region-based shipping restrictions

Before you create a job to order a Snow Family device, you should sign in to the console from the Amazon Web Services Region that your Amazon S3 data is housed in. A few shipping restrictions apply, as follows:

  • We don't ship Amazon Snowball Edge devices between regions.

Note

Amazon will not ship an Amazon Snowball Edge device to a post office box.
