Setting Up Amazon for Amazon Snowcone

Before you create your first Amazon Snowcone job, follow these instructions to ensure that you adequately prepare your environment.

Sign Up for Amazon

When you sign up for Amazon Web Services (Amazon), your account is automatically signed up for all Amazon services. Amazon only charges you for the services that you use. After you set up your account, you can order, configure, and manage your Amazon Snowcone device through the Amazon Snow Family Management Console. For more information about pricing and fees for Snowcone, see Amazon Snowcone pricing.

If you already have an Amazon Web Services account, note your Amazon Web Services account number. If you don't have an Amazon Web Services account, follow these steps:

To create an Amazon Web Services account
  1. Open https://portal.amazonaws.cn/billing/signup.

  2. Follow the online instructions.

Part of the sign-up procedure involves receiving a phone call and entering a verification code on the phone keypad.

When you sign up for an Amazon Web Services account, an Amazon Web Services account root user is created. The root user has access to all Amazon Web Services and resources in the account. As a security best practice, assign administrative access to an administrative user, and use only the root user to perform tasks that require root user access.

Note your Amazon Web Services account number, which you'll need for the next step.
