(Optional) Use Amazon EC2 Image Builder (Windows 11 only)

The Amazon EC2 Image Builder is capable of creating an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) from a raw ISO file. This feature is only available for Windows 11 systems.

If you are using Amazon EC2 Image Builder to create the image you need, you can skip:

Converting an ISO file to an AMI

  1. Upload the ISO file to S3. See Uploading objects in the Amazon Simple Storage Service user guide.

  2. Convert the ISO file into an AMI. See Import verified Windows ISO disk images with Image Builder in the EC2 Image Builder User Guide.

  3. Proceed to Step 6: Import a VM as an image into Amazon EC2 in preparation to create a BYOL image for WorkSpaces
