Getting started with Amazon IoT TwinMaker
The topics in this section describe how to do the following.
Create and set up a new workspace.
Create an entity and add a component to it.
Prerequisites:
To create your first workspace and scene, you need the following Amazon resources.
-
An Amazon account.
-
An IAM service role for Amazon IoT TwinMaker. This role is automatically generated by default, when you create a new Amazon IoT TwinMaker workspace in the Amazon IoT TwinMaker console
. If you don't choose to let Amazon IoT TwinMaker automatically create a new IAM service role, you must specify one that you have already created.
For instructions on creating and managing this service role, see Create and manage a service role for Amazon IoT TwinMaker.
For more information about IAM service roles, see Creating a role to delegate permissions to an Amazon Web Services service.
Important
This service role must have an attached policy that grants permission for the service to read and write to an Amazon S3 bucket. Amazon IoT TwinMaker uses this role to access other services on your behalf. You will also need to assign a trust relationship between this role and Amazon IoT TwinMaker so that the service can assume the role. If your twin interacts with other Amazon services, add the necessary permissions for those services as well.
Topics
Sign up for an Amazon Web Services account
If you do not have an Amazon Web Services account, use the following procedure to create one.
To sign up for Amazon Web Services
Open http://www.amazonaws.cn/
and choose Sign Up. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Amazon sends you a confirmation email after the sign-up process is
complete. At any time, you can view your current account activity and manage your account by
going to http://www.amazonaws.cn/
Secure IAM users
After you sign up for an Amazon Web Services account, safeguard your administrative user by turning on multi-factor authentication (MFA). For instructions, see Enable a virtual MFA device for an IAM user (console) in the IAM User Guide.
To give other users access to your Amazon Web Services account resources, create IAM users. To secure your IAM users, turn on MFA and only give the IAM users the permissions needed to perform their tasks.
For more information about creating and securing IAM users, see the following topics in the IAM User Guide:
