/root: root user home directory - Amazon Linux 2023
Services or capabilities described in Amazon Web Services documentation might vary by Region. To see the differences applicable to the China Regions, see Getting Started with Amazon Web Services in China (PDF).

/root: root user home directory

The home directory of the root user is the /root directory, purposefully separate from /home so that it is present in the event that /home is on a file system which is not available.

The best practice for configuring systemd services is the same for /root as it is for /home. See /home: User home directories for more information.
